Join us for the inaugural Gavyn’s Favorite 5K at Orient Beach State Park on Sunday, October 18, 2026, as the community comes together to run, remember and celebrate the life of 17-year-old Mattituck High School senior Gavyn Drago.
Gavyn was captain of his track and cross-country teams and an avid runner who completed five half marathons by age 17. Orient Beach held special meaning for him—this was his favorite 5K course, where he loved the flat, fast route and was always chasing his next PR.
Gavyn also lived with epilepsy and used his running to raise thousands of dollars for the Epilepsy Foundation. Proceeds from the race will benefit The Gavyn Avery Drago Foundation, established by his family to carry forward his legacy by supporting epilepsy research and initiatives assisting families of teens living with the disease.
Whether you run, walk, volunteer or come out to support, all are welcome to be part of this special North Fork community event.

Registration closes October 17 at 5 PM. Register by October 7 to guarantee a race shirt. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 AM.
