About
Did you know that your basic cotton T-shirt used 2,000 gallons of water to make and use–from the farm to the factory and into the washing machine, and the amount of fossil carbon burned in transportation? Mind-boggling!
Join us to discuss the future of fashion — everything from plants and plastic for clothing, to the labor market, recycling, upcycling, and even clothing as a value statement, the new trend is “you are what you wear.” There is growing popularity in wearing fashion that reveals our values, including our values on climate.

“A circular economy thrives on zero waste,” said Mark Haubner, steering committee member of Drawdown East End. “It is based on three principles — design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use, and regenerate natural systems. The fashion industry is moving toward a circular model, where clothing is designed from recycled or all-natural materials, everything is used, repaired, recycled, nothing ends up overloading and polluting landfills.”
