Bid on dates with North Fork hunks and watch them strut their stuff on the catwalk — all for a good cause and a few laughs — at Jamesport Vineyards this Friday.
Local animal advocacy group Spay Alter Vaccinate Every Stray (S.A.V.E.S.) is hosting a male model search and date auction at the Jamesport winery on Friday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 and all proceeds benefit S.A.V.E.S.
Those interested can purchase a paddle for $5 to bid on a date with participants in the auction. Bids start at $50 and the winners will go on a group date (dinner is included) at the vineyard.
“It’s a group date so they’re not doing it to be romantic,” said organizer and S.A.V.E.S. secretary Virginia Scudder. “It’s all to benefit S.A.V.E.S. and it’s all for good fun.”
Two of the six auction participants are Andrew and Matthew Como, members of the Como Brothers Band. The evening will be hosted by 106.7 Lite FM DJ Jack Kratoville.
Several “models” who will be featured in a calendar to benefit the organization will walk the runway and a panel of judges will determine which month the participants will represent.
“It’s all in jest and for fun,” Scudder said. “They’re not really judging anyone.”

The volunteer-run organization strives to improve the lives of the North Fork’s feral cats.
“Every dollar goes toward the animals. That’s what is important,” Scudder said. “The population of feral cats is quite large. There are many colonies on the North Fork. Most people don’t realize what we do — they think we’re just cat freaks. But once you fall in love with animal rescue, you’re trying to give them a better life.”
