As summer winds down, local foodies can feast on the best from North Fork farmers, fishermen, distillers and winemakers at Eddie’s at Silver Sands end of summer bash, Local’s Summer, on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 4-10 p.m. — the last night of Eddie’s season.

The event will take place on the beach with a raw bar, local seafood, food cooked over a wood fire, McCall Wines’ Wagolais beef and local wine and cocktails. Guests can meet the local growers and gatherers that supply Eddie’s throughout the season, like the folks from Davy Jones Shellfish Co., Matchbook Distilling Co., McCall Wines, KK’s the Farm, Pipes Cove Fish Trap and Treiber Farms.

“What we’re really excited about is the idea behind the evening,” says Alexander Perros, Silver Sands’ proprietor. “September has always felt like a special time out here — the crowds thin out, the water is still warm, and the North Fork starts to feel like itself again. We thought it would be nice to mark that moment by bringing together some of the people we work with and love seeing all season and hopefully make it something we return to each year.”

Featured dishes include Davy Jones oysters with KK’s pickled chard and lemon verbena; littleneck clams with Thai basil, aioli and lime; opah (also called moonfish), an unusual-looking fish that occasionally show up in our waters as bycatch at this time of year; Treiber apple-glazed pork skewers; fried longfin squid sliders; McCall Wagolais meatballs and local vegetable skewers with salsa verde and crème fraiche.

In addition to the hyper-local food and drink, the bash will have music by DJ Matt Shaw, fire pits and s’mores by the water as the sun goes down.

Eddie’s plans to make donations from the evening to three organizations that have become part of the Silver Sands community: Custer Institute & Observatory, North Fork Audubon Society and Slow Food East End. The three groups have collaborated with Silver Sands on various events and tours throughout the season, such as stargazing nights on the beach and birding walks.

“It means a lot to us that the evening gives us a chance to give back,” Perros says. “All three [organizations] have been wonderful partners to Silver Sands in different ways, and we really value the relationships we’ve built with them. It felt important that an event celebrating the North Fork also support organizations that contribute so much to this community.”

The Silver Sands restaurants —The Boathouse, Eddie’s and Nookies — received a Slow Food Snail of Approval award from Slow Food East End in December 2025. The awards recognize local businesses that respect local food cultures, cuisine and traditions and promote products that are environmentally sustainable, healthy and accessible to all.
