As part of the Shelter Island Friends of Music’s three-day residency with the acclaimed Sinta Quartet, enjoy a free program titled “The Music of the Sea in Verse and Song.” Rev. Galen Guengerich, longtime senior minister of All Souls in New York and now Chaplain of the Shelter Island Yacht Club, will read sea-themed poetry by Elizabeth Bishop, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Emily Dickinson, Emma Lazarus, Walt Whitman, Seamus Heaney, Matthew Arnold, Jericho Brown, and others, interwoven with live musical performances by the Sinta Quartet.
