About

5K Trail will take you through the scenic North Fork Hallock State Park Preserve with pristine views of the walking dunes with visible sand hoodoos, Long Island Sound and neighboring vineyards.

My name is Michele Passarella, I am a local beekeeper and have several apiaries here on the North and South Fork of Long Island.

Being a beekeeper has opened my eyes helped me see how the use of chemicals such as fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides have been impacting our environment and fragile habitat in a negative way.  Avoiding harmful chemicals belonging to the neonicotinoid family at all costs, they are especially harmful to the bees and harmful to us!

This event is designed to educate and promote environmental sustainability by helping the community make informed choices. Recycling, minimizing waste, composting plant material, growing your own food, reducing pollution and the consumption of nature resources.

Funds are being raised for Lucia’s Angels, the Coalition for Women’s Cancers, Fighting Chance & the North Fork Breast Health Coalition.
