So many of us live for the beautiful summers on lovely Long Island, but often we scurry away to vacation elsewhere once the season comes.
After a long-haul search for her forever home on the island, Jasmine Nugent wanted to stay put all summer to save some money but to also enjoy herself at home in Halesite, a hamlet on Huntington harbor.
“I love where we are and it’s like a destination in itself for me,” says Nugent.
Between the cooking, cleaning, laundry and hosting duties when sharing her space with guests, Nugent felt there had to be an easier way to experience a vacation at home.
So last year, she and her sister-in-law Brittany Nugent created a solution: The Staycay, an in-home network connecting clients with vetted local professionals offering services to create that vacation-like feel minus the travel, major price tags or packing of bags.

“It’s outsourcing what is making your house not a place that you want to be,” says Nugent.
The Staycay offers a variety of services to the North Shore, North Fork and South Fork, including housekeeping, turn down services, chef-prepared meals, certified lifeguards, fitness instructors, in-home curated boutique shopping experiences, hairstyling, home organization and other amenities that can be booked for a week-long staycation or for an extended period, all of which is discussed in the client’s initial booking phone call.
The Nugents also created Summer Club, which starts at $1,200 — a facet of The Staycay where clients can host a mock summer camp for their children and their children’s friends. While counselors come in to do crafts and activities with the kids, lifeguards supervise the pool, food is arranged and parents are able to relax.
Another offering called Staycay Soirée provides services for hosting a party or celebration, including florals, food, décor and other components to lighten your load.

The brand even provides specialized services that are giftable, like the Fourth Trimester Package for moms who just gave birth, with weekly or monthly meal services, doula support, massages and light housekeeping.
Planning and excecution are in Jasmine Nugent’s nature. Nugent earned a degree in speech pathology and started her career in schools where even then she was creating services to bridge the gaps in what was offered for students, such as developing after school programs and camps. Her business partner Brittany comes from an operations background.
“I was the visionary and she puts everything together,” says Nugent.
Being a full-service business, clients pay the service fee (all of which goes to the vendor) and coordination fee to The Staycay, then the Nugents do the legwork of arranging, communicating with and paying vendors. The majority of the vendors are female-owned and all are local, licensed, insured and vetted.
“The baseline is excellent service,” says Nugent.
