Irish Roots Candy & Gifts, Adrienne Governali’s welcoming shop in Baiting Hollow Commons, is chock-full of Irish-made products (and a few items from the U.K.). Governali, a Baiting Hollow resident whose family hails from Cork and Limerick, opened the store (3225 Sound Ave., Suite 1, Riverhead, 631-591-0290) just over a year ago and caters to those looking for authentic products from the Auld Sod.
Governali carries a selection of Irish sweaters, hats and capes mostly sourced from small family businesses in Ireland, as well as jewelry, candy and food items, personal-care products and housewares like rag rugs, picture frames, glassware and more. Stop in for a look around and to stock up on all things Irish.
1. Islander Harris Tweed Calton Satchel, $99. Crafted with handwoven Harris Tweed from Scotland, the Islander line is made in Edinburgh and includes purses, wallets, handbags and computer bags that cost anywhere from $25 to $160.
2. Murphy’s Irish Soap, $11. Made with all-natural ingredients, Governali notes that Murphy’s soap is vegan and great for people with allergies. It comes in scents like rose, honey and Irish oats, Atlantic seaweed and sea salt, lavender rosemary, and Irish stout.

3. Irish candy, $2-$4. The candy Irish Roots stocks is made without processed sugar, resulting in a creamier chocolate. Cadbury Flake is one of the most popular hard-to-find sweets the shop sells.
4. Solvar Sterling Silver Celtic Cross Necklace, $54. A third-generation jewelry maker based in Dublin, Solvar makes a range of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. The Acara line features claddaghs, Celtic crosses, shamrocks and trinity knot designs. Irish Roots carries Solvar items for men and women that range from $50 to $250.
5. Sweatshirt by Celtic Culture, $50. Governali carries a full complement of Irish-themed sweatshirts and T-shirts for the whole family, with sweatshirts priced at $50 and T-shirts at $26.

6. Inis Cologne, $65. The Inis line of personal-care products made in County Wicklow features the fresh scent of the sea. “The cologne has a nice clean smell; it’s unisex,” Governali says. “[The brand is] very popular in Ireland.” Besides fragrances, the line includes body moisturizers, hand lotions, bath and shower gel, soap, and candles, which range from $25 to $65.
