Donations of clothing in very good condition and gently used home items are accepted Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The thrift shop does not accept electronics, large furniture or appliances.

SOCIAL SUPPORT

The Butterfly Effect Project, 1146 Main Road, Riverhead, 631-591-0759

This nonprofit creates safe spaces for youth to succeed through programming focusing on confidence building, self and community care, healthy relationships and critical thinking; multiple chapters across Long Island. Volunteer or donate through their website.

East End Lions Club

The local chapter of Lions International (the world’s largest service organization) organizes the Strawberry Festival and supports a wide array of community and nonprofit organizations. Check the Lions’ social media for info on their charitable campaigns.

Family Service League (21 Sterlington Commons, Greenport; 7555 Main Road, Mattituck; 400 West Main St. and 208 Roanoke Ave., Riverhead)

Runs over 60 social service programs serving seniors, the homeless, those suffering from addiction and mental illness and more, with more than 20 locations on Long Island. Donate or volunteer through their website.

Provides connection for differently-abled people through nature, art and gardening programs, as well as support and advocacy for families and caregivers. Donate through their website or email [email protected].

Kait’s Angels, P.O. Box 1081, Mattituck

Kait’s Angels mission is to provide assistance to those facing health challenges, financial hardships and unexpected life events. Based in Mattituck, the group continues the legacy of Kaitlyn Doohry, who passed away in 2014. Check the group’s website to donate or for volunteer opportunities.

Provides scholarships to local students and support for community organizations that assist those in need; in honor of Kim Pawlowski and her charitable work. Donate online or by mail.

Created in honor of Ryan Oliver, who passed away in 2021, this charity provides scholarship funds, promotes mental health initiatives and assists families in need. Check the organization’s social media to donate and for volunteer options.

Gabbys Wonderful World, Wading River

Raising money to fight the the rare neutral lipid storage disease with myopthy (NLSD-M). Started by Gabrielle Zeppieri — a young Wading River woman who, when diagnoses, was one of only 15 people in the world suffering from it — the mission is to raise funds to bring awareness, provide emotional support and, most importantly, find a a cure.

Seven days a week, 365 days a year this volunteer-strong medical emergency service saves lives in this remote town (where getting to a hospital is a water-crossing endeavor).

This amazing organization does double-time with its mission: rehabilitation troubled horses with no where left to go, and helping first-responders and military members and veterans to heal by working with these gentle giants.

North Fork Breast Health Coalition, 185 Old Country Road, Riverhead, 631-208-8889

Long Island has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the nation, and this excellent group works to support patients and survivors on eastern Long Island, providing financial support, mammograms and other cancer services, research and education.

East End Hospice, 481 Westhampton-Riverhead Road, Westhampton Beach, 631-288-8400

Providing end-of-life care, dignity and support to patients and their families on both the North and South forks. They accept both financial donations and volunteers to help with the multitude of care-giving services they offer.
