Everyone is welcome at this candy-packed event. On Friday Oct. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. kids of all ages can trick or treat from the trunks of registered trucks and cars. Best decorated trunks can win prizes. Register here.

Bats, Barnacles and Broomsticks Halloween Party | Long Island Aquarium, 431 East Main St., Riverhead, 631-208-9200

The 6th Annual Halloween Village | Greenport

It’s a day of parades, spooky (but fun!) movies, trick or treating and general Halloween fun through Greenport Village on Oct. 25. Start the day at 10:30 a.m. at William Floyd Library (539 First St.) to line up for the costume parade (featuring the North Fork Academy of Dance), which kicks off at 11 a.m. and ghoulishly galavants to Mitchel Park. Then get ready for a day of festivities: free rides on the newly refurbished carousel for little ghosts under the age of 12 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Village trick or treating from noon to 3 p.m.; a scavenger hunt from noon to 3 p.m. and a “Lizzie Borden” visit (yikes!) at 1:30 p.m. at the Blue Duck Bakery courtyard (130 Front St.) and a screening of “Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” both Saturday and Sunday at the North Fork Arts Center (211 Front St.) at 2 p.m. And for the grown-up ghouls? Lots of fun Halloween-centric food and drink specials from participating restaurants throughout the day. for Greenport’s annual Halloween festivities. Rain date for the event is Oct. 26.

Trick or Treat at the Haunted Museum | 300 W. Main St., Riverhead

Kids of all sizes (wee ones to teens, that is — and their ghoulish caregivers) are welcome to roam the halls of the Suffolk County Historical Society Museum for a spooky scavenger hunt full of haunted hilarity.
