Chris and Stacy Rule’s Blue Space (405 Main St., Greenport, 631-333-2112) is a curated collection of coastal vibes, from the paddleboards lining the ceiling, to the cases of sunglasses, to the intoxicating mix of scents from the store’s home and body products.

But waterways were definitely in the couple’s DNA. Stacy’s family owns the Flying Point stores on the South Fork and, after a four-year stint living in Hong Kong, the couple moved back to the States in 2014 and opened the Greenport shop as an outpost of the family brand. In 2020, the Rules decided to strike out on their own and relaunched the shop as Blue Space.

They’ve spent more than 10 years winnowing their brands to fit their vision for the store: eco-conscious inventory carefully selected for its quality and soft, moveable materials.

“We actually met [on the East End] and I fell in love with it out here,” says Chris. “We’re in a great spot.”
