Model trains are a Christmas-season staple, often acting as the centerpiece of a beautiful holiday spectacle. Times Review Media Group executive editor Brendan O’Connor wrote this story about the community of Lionel model train collectors on the East End for our holiday-themed December issue. Brendan interviewed the enthusiasts who run the Railroad Museum of Long Island, but he also found a brick-and-mortar shop that sells Lionel trains and parts in Manorville, adding a whole extra level of insider knowledge to the story.
