Who says the holiday season starts on Black Friday?

It’s not too early to make your reservations for the 7th annual Riverhead Holiday Light Show, opening on Nov. 15. The annual drive-through show takes place at Splish Splash Water Park (2549 Splish Splash Drive, Calverton) and is the biggest light show in Suffolk County. The 20-to-25-minute drive will provide a mile-long cornucopia of brilliantly lit tunnels and light displays synchronized to holiday music, accessed by tuning into the event’s radio station in your car.

“We’re thrilled to bring our most ambitious Riverhead Holiday Light Show yet to life,” says Matthew Glaser of Bold Media, the light show’s producer. “Our displays celebrate a range of holiday traditions, so there truly is something for everyone. Nothing captures the magic of the season quite like a festival of lights, and we can’t wait for guests of all ages to experience the largest show we’ve ever produced in Suffolk County.”

This year, kids will be able to have their photos taken with Santa from 5 p.m.–8:30 p.m. on selected evenings for an extra fee; be sure to check the online schedule to find out which days the jolly ol’ man will be there.

The show’s producers emphasize that they feature new, never-before-seen displays each year to keep things fresh, so bundle the family up in the car with some snacks and hot chocolate and enjoy the show — it will be open every day during the holiday break from December 19-31, the latter of which is the final day of the annual event.

There are four ticket levels for families to choose from: General admission for $25 weekdays/$30 weekends; flex pass for $35 (includes 10% off photos with Santa, admission on any show night, and a second discounted trip on the same evening); VIP Pass for $55 (includes 30% off Santa photos, any-night admission, a free second trip on the same evening, and two Santa hats); and a season pass for $129 that offers unlimited visits, once daily, on any night throughout the season. Tickets cover a carload of visitors and are available at the gate, but checking the website ahead of time and buying tickets in advance may score you some discounted prices.
