Craft Workshops

Owner Bunnii Buglione hosts creative classes and workshops for kids and adults at her unique Feather Hill gift shop, which sells crafts, candles, candy, clothes and tchotchkes. “If you can’t make the class, I always have kits available to go,” Buglione says. “I want to have a space where anyone feels comfortable coming in, being creative and having fun.” Check Rowan’s Instagram page for an updated list of happenings in the coming weeks.

Pitmaster Class 101

Expert pitmaster Larry Mondello teaches this six-hour BBQ class where participants learn smoking basics such as fire starting, fire and smoke control, seasoning, trimming, cooking and slicing. Mondello is a Long Island native who mans the 1,000 gallon Texas-made offset smoker at Meat’s Meat on the regular. Students will receive a brisket-slicing knife and take home their smoked creations.

Mandala Ornament Workshops

Design your own glass ornament while learning the history and significance of creating a mandala in local artist Julie O’Daly’s Mandala Ornament Workshops, held at the Southold market and yoga/Pilates studio. Mandalas are used throughout the world as a visual mode of meditation. “Mandalas provide a sacred and powerful energy of peace and love,” says Giving Room owner Paula DiDonato. “‘Mandala’ is the Sanskrit word for sacred circle, and creating them is an ancient art.”

Winter Wellness Tools Workshop

Taught by board-certified health coach Rachel Thomas, this workshop focuses on how to stay healthy during the winter season. “We’ll learn some basic guidelines around healthy eating, staying hydrated, taking deep breaths and staying active,” Thomas says. She’ll also discuss how the body protects itself from infections and how to alleviate cold symptoms.
