A new, locally-owned brewery and tasting room has hit the streets of Mattituck.

From the minds behind Tradewinds Brewing Company in downtown Riverhead, Duffy Griffiths and partner Stephen Wirth opened Alizé Brewing Company last weekend in the former East on Main restaurant at 10560 Main Road in Mattituck.

Griffiths said he and Wirth, owner of Digger’s Ales N’ Eats in Riverhead, launched Alizé to showcase Tradewinds’ beer in Mattituck. The pair previously founded Crooked Ladder Brewery together and Griffiths owns Duffy’s Deli in Jamesport and Riverhead.

“It was a natural fit to open up a restaurant — our main focus is sticking with the tasting room theme,” Griffiths said. “We don’t want to be considered a bar.”

With a variety of beer flights, food and live music, the two veteran brewers hope to make Alizé Brewing Company a community-oriented space in Mattituck. The interior features private dining rooms for special events as well.

Griffiths said he would like to introduce karaoke and trivia nights at Alizé for community members and visitors to the area to enjoy.

Jim Liszanckie, Digger’s executive chef, is aboard the venture as well with his carefully curated menu of some familiar Digger’s staples — such as the Thanksgiving Sandwich and Hot Pastrami sandwich — and new dishes for patrons to try.

Visitors can indulge in a burrata plate, stout chili, Alizé jerk-style wings, a Texas cheesesteak sandwich, a hot Bavarian pretzel and more.

For the beer fanatics, the menu features Tradewinds craft beer and IPAs, as well as 16-tap wines and local ciders for those looking for something other brews.

After spending four years at Greenport Harbor Brewery as the director of brewing operations, Griffiths left to focus on making Tradewinds a small boutique, high-end craft beer destination in Riverhead.

When he launched Tradewinds in 2020, he started with five beers on the menu — the Lilly light lager, the No Paddle pilsner, the Alsatian Hefeweizen, the New Guy! New England IPA and the Breaking Tide double IPA.

Today, Tradewinds offers dozens of options for beer buffs and Alizé Brewing Company is just an expansion of he and Wirth’s “beer portfolio” in the North Fork.

Alizé Brewing Company is currently open on Main Road in Mattituck Thursday through Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
