There is now a place in Greenport where artists of all skill levels can gather and create.
Head to VEME Studios’ Art Bar for a two-hour experience exploring your creativity. The Art Bar works just like a regular bar — just without the alcohol. Pick from a menu of mediums such as paints, clay, and drawing, brew yourself a mug of coffee or tea, and express yourself.
VEME Studios also offers guided weekend workshops where you can learn and practice skills like painting with alcohol-based paints and sculpting candlestick holders and mugs with clay. A small market selling art kits and crafts by several local artists can also be perused before, during, or after your time at the studio.
VEME is the brainchild of Verona (VE) Peñalba and Melissa (ME) Gabrielsen, who shared the dream of hosting a space where like-minded individuals could gather, create, and turn off their brains for a short while. The pair began hosting workshops earlier this spring and they quickly grew in popularity amongst locals, leading them to move to this larger space on Front Street in August.
Their new location is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pre-book workshops and find more information about the Art Bar on their website.
