From photography exhibits celebrating local history to vibrant paintings by resident artists, here’s your guide to the art shows and exhibits happening on the North Fork this September.

Endless Summer: An Uplifting Art Exhibition l East End Arts, Riverhead

Even though Labor Day has come and gone, marking the end of the beloved summer season, the new exhibition “Endless Summer” on display at the East End Arts center will lift your spirits in the way the summer does on the East End. The show features colorful paintings by Quogue artist Susan Cushing and Southold artist Franklin Hill Perrell. The opening reception is Saturday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m., with the show running through Oct. 15 in two galleries (EEA Main Gallery and 11 West Gallery). Visitors are invited to join the Opening Reception while wearing their brightest, happiest attire. There will also be several happenings as part of the show, including a music festival on Sept. 19, a painting/poem event on Sept. 21, and an artist talk on Oct. 16.

East End Arts is located at 133 E. Main St., Riverhead

Between the Bay and the Sound, A North Fork Family Album l Suffolk County Historical Society Museum, Riverhead

Curated by designer Helen Verin, this photography exhibit captures life on the North Fork with prints of early families including Young, Wells, Horton, Hallock and others. Verin, who was inspired after purchasing her home in Jamesport in 2013, connected with Ellen Doughty Korsower, who grew up in the home and whose lineage traces back to Peter Hallock, reportedly the first Hallock to arrive on the North Fork back in the 1600s. Admission to the exhibit is $5 per person (free for members) and will run from Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. through Feb. 3.

Suffolk County Historical Society Museum is located at 300 West Main St., Riverhead

The Photography Show with American Craft l William Ris Gallery, Jamesport

Photography and American Craft will share the stage at the next exhibit opening on Sept. 9, which will offer a juxtaposition of work by Long Island Photographers and three-dimensional artisans. The photography show features work from Tom D’Emic, Scott Farrell, Susan Saunders and more, while the American Craft collection will feature work from various members of the Long Island Craft Guild. The opening reception will take place on Sept. 9, 4 until 7 p.m. and will run through Oct. 8.

North Fork Love… Art from the Heart l Old Town Guild, Cutchogue

Back on the grounds of the Guild, North Fork Love…Art from the Heart will be on display for the month of September. In this exhibit, the Guild members took art that represented their love of the North Fork. From paintings/prints of sunflowers to images of Magic Fountain, this exhibit will have you immersed in the beauty and wonder of the North Fork. While the exhibit runs through the entire month of September, you can also plan to stop by on Sept. 16, where the Guild will have their Fall Antiques, Fine Art and Crafts fair held on their grounds.

Reflextions Oktoberfest in the Park | Milton L Burns Park, Riverhead

This interactive and walkable exhibit of art and light will be on display at dusk on Saturday, Sept. 30 during the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest in the Park event. Enjoy Oktoberfest from 3 to 9 p.m. with food, costumes, Stein Holding and more family fun. The outdoor, walkable Reflexions exhibit will be open from dusk until 9 p.m. Walk along the riverfront and view the light-up sculptures while enjoying all of the fun Oktoberfest has to offer.
