A lobster roll is the definitive food of summer on the North Fork. While you can find one on most local menus, here are our curated picks and reasons why we love them. 

  1. Make it pretty

Flowers make everything better, even lobster rolls. Barrow Food House serves theirs with edible flowers on top making it the prettiest lobster roll on the North Fork. (Side note: It’s as delicious as it is beautiful.) 452 Main Road, Riverhead 

2. Not your typical pick 

Lobster roll from a deli? Yup! Lighthouse Market and Deli in Aquebogue doesn’t mess around when it comes to their lobster roll. 363 Meeting House Road, Aquebogue 

3. Something about a classic

Love Lane Kitchen serves up a truly classic lobster roll with meaty lobster the perfect amount of mayo and no fillers in an unfussed, homey setting. 240 Love Lane, Mattituck 

4. Take it to go

Heading to the beach? Braun Seafood Co. in Cutchogue is an excellent option for a lobster roll on the go. 30840 Main Road, Cutchogue 

5. A touch elevated

The food truck by North Fork Table & Inn does it right with a sprinkle of fennel-sea salt that makes the ordinary extraordinary. Dine on-site in the garden or take it to go. 57225 Main Road, Southold 

6. Seafood market mainstay

Is it even unofficial summer if you don’t eat at Southold Fish Market? While every item on their menu is a home run, the lobster roll is a picture-perfect dish. 64755 NY-25, Southold 

7. Make it hot (and consistent)

Noah’s never lets us down. The Greenport mainstay serves theirs hot on buttery Blue Duck Bakery brioche with French fries and pickles. 136 Front St., Greenport 

8. Unexpected and flavorful 

The approach at Anker always includes something unexpected and yields for the delicious. The lobster roll is done with rosemary garlic brown butter, yuzu, pickled celery, and herbs and is served on milk bread. It’s delectably different. 47 Front St., Greenport 

9. Casual newcomer

Hook & Net may be newer to the North Fork food scene but they’ve made quite an impression with their creative seafood in the very heart of Greenport Village. Order your lobster roll cold with lemon aioli, cherry tomatoes, and celery leaves or with bacon, celery leaves and tomato in a spicy aioli. There is a hot option as well. 414 First St., Greenport 

10. With kids in tow

Fuel up before heading to the carousel with your crew. Crabby Jerry’s offers a lobster roll three ways: Claudio’s, Connecticut, or Cajun in a kid-friendly setting. 111 Main St., Greenport
