Drive-in movies have made a return in recent years, and the Sound View Greenport is continuing the trend.

The Zoom Zoom pop-up drive-in movie theater is the latest venture of the Kulture Collective, a cultural initiative that has hosted events at the Sound View like the Beach Fire lecture series during the summer and fall. Conceived by hotel owner Erik Warner, The Zoom Zoom is a monthly drive-in with a curated lineup of eclectic films, starting with Die Hard on Friday, Dec. 17.

The drive-in will also have a concession stand with beverages, snacks and small bites from the Halyard restaurant.

“We’re excited to invite locals and visitors of Greenport to experience The Zoom Zoom this winter and spring season, coming together from the comfort of our cars to enjoy nostalgia-fueled evenings filled with timeless films and delicious eats,” Warner said.

Warner has handpicked a selection of films through April.

“The Zoom Zoom will feature a few of my favorite films of all-time, ranging from thrillers to comedies,” he said. “Each evoke a sense of connection to different places and periods, while telling important life lessons through their characters and storylines.”

After Die Hard, The Zoom Zoom will show Shallow Hal in February for Valentine’s Day, The Big Chill in March and Dazed and Confused in April (on 4/20, if you were wondering).

“From tales of love, friendship and growing up, there is something we can all take away from each of these movies,” Warner said.

Tickets are $25 per car. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the film starts at 7 p.m. Visit the Sound View’s website for tickets.

Sound View Greenport is located at 58775 County Road 48 in Greenport.
