The Shoppes at East Wind opened in Wading River.

Show your support for those who are fighting and have fought breast cancer with a streak of pink in your hair at The Shoppes at East Wind in Wading River on Friday.

The complex of independently owned stores will donate a portion of sales during an event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Proceeds will be donated to the Maurer Foundation, a Melville-based non-profit which offers breast health education programs in local schools.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Shoppes want to recognize those who are fighting, those who have won the battle and honoring those we have lost due to breast cancer,” said Lyn Cooperman, owner of North Fork Craft Gallery. Her store will offer pink jewelry and “Susie Survivor” dolls during the event

Specials include $15 pink hair extensions ($5 of which will be donated to the foundation) from the East Wind hair salon at The Beginning Apparel store. Sewing studio “Little Miss Sew-it-All” will make pink “zomboobies” and Tweet’s Ice Cream will offer “survivor sundaes,” of which $2 will be donated to the Maurer Foundation.

Other stores will donate a portion of sales on certain items and some will sell merchandise that supports breast cancer research.

The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20.
