First osprey photos of 2016 on the North Fork

The first ospreys to return to the North Fork this year will be in a for a rude awakening Sunday. As much as four inches of snow is in the forecast.

Let’s hope they don’t head back south.

Photographer JP Stanisic captured a photo of one of the first ospreys to return. He spotted the bird at the nest on Young’s Avenue in Southold at about 1 p.m. Saturday.
