Our staff photographer Barbaraellen Koch captured this vivid sunset during an evening drive on New Suffolk Avenue on Wednesday, Jan. 13.
“As you drive along New Suffolk there are so many opportunities to take a photo,” she said. “Its like you’re in a different place every half mile or so.”
Sunsets are clearer in autumn in winter because the clean, dry air allows more colors of the spectrum to shine through, according to weather.com.
The temperature was about 30 degrees that night.
