They had us at fondue.
Love Lane First Fridays, a monthly event when the shops on Mattituck’s most charming street stay open late and offer small bites and drink pairings, will return for the last time in 2015 this week.
Roanoke Vineyards Love Lane will offer specials on glasses of wine and oysters from Harvest Moon Shellfish Co. will be available as Rebekah Conner performs live acoustic music.
Love Lane Kitchen will serve $5 mugs of mulled wine, local beers and $3 “Love Bites.” Lombardi’s on Love Lane will serve Glögg (a type of mulled wine) and gourmet macaroni and cheese (both $3). Singer Jen Kane will perform at Love Lane Toys where $3 and $5 stocking stuffers will be available. Good Food (located around the corner on nearby Pike Street) will serve Buffalo wings and musician Liza Coppola will perform. Altman’s Needle and Fiber Arts will host a sock knitting circle
And Santa Claus is expected to make an appearance at the Love Lane Sweet Shoppe.
But what we are perhaps most looking forward to are the different pots of fondue that will be available at the Village Cheese Shop. Expect decadent options like the Italian blend made with fresh and aged asiago cheeses and pecorino or French and Danish bleu cheeses made with garlic.
Small cups of fondue and bread will be served outside the store near an outdoor heater and portable burner.
Inside the café, fondue is $27 for two, $37 for three and $47 for four. Fondue, which is always available at the shop, is served with apple slices and fresh bread.
“It’s a a great date night destination for sure,” said Village Cheese Shop owner Michael Affatato. “People still say, ‘I didn’t know you guys do fondue.’ It creates a great ambiance.”
The event runs 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4.
