This week’s Sunday Scene comes to us from Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport.

Our staff photographer Barbaraellen Koch noticed the fountain outside the historic restaurant and inn had frozen over on Wednesday, Nov. 19. While this is a sight she has photographed many times over the years, she said she could not recall a time when it had happened before mid-December.

Long Island temperature set a record low for that date with a low temperature of 22 degrees recorded at MacArthur Airport in Islip, according to the National Weather Service. The previous record of 23 degrees was set in 1997.

The average low temperature for Nov. 19 is 36 degrees.
