William Steeple Davis artist in residence Frieda Dean will present an exhibit titled “Orient Gleaning” Sept. 29 to Oct. 6 at Oysterponds Historical Society’s Janet T. Swanson Gallery in Orient. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. The show is open daily, noon to 5 p.m. Ms. Dean’s work, in various media, was inspired by the shells, sea foliage and other beach detritus she collected during her year of beachcombing and wandering through Orient. The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library presented “Introduction to Spanish Tapas with Chef Richard Kanowsky,” the latest in the library’s popular series of cooking programs, last week.
Chef Rich, who is the chef/owner of Kanobley Catering, gave a short history of Spanish tapas and a quick lesson in their preparation before participants began cooking. (more…)
