Fans of Sep’s Farm in East Marion can now get the farm’s most popular offerings and grab and go meals at a Southold outpost.

Sep’s Café and Market, located at the Heron Suites/Port of Egypt marina complex in Southold, opens today, June 15, at 9 a.m.

The new café offers indoor and outdoor seating with some of the best views of Peconic Bay. There is also plenty of wildlife nearby, partly due to a bird sanctuary located on the south side of the property.

“Once you turn off your car, you can hear the peepers in the woods,” said Katie Sepenoski, a partner in Sep’s Farm as well as Port of Egypt marina and Heron Suites. “And you have an unobstructed view of the whole bay.”

The new market is located in the space that was home to Southold Fish Market before that business moved across the street in 2012.

It’s the first indoor space for the East Marion farm, which also operates a farm stand on Shelter Island. Inside you’ll find Sep’s produce, including signature crops like corn and tomatoes when in season, as well as sandwiches, baked goods, jarred goods, salads, chutneys and more. You’ll also find Sep’s frozen berries in the freezer, ready to be made into a smoothie or daiquiri.

The plan is to “use as much product from the farm as possible,” said the café’s chef, Brittany Doucett of Greenport, who is studying culinary arts at SUNY Delhi.

“The produce from Sep’s Farm is some of the best I’ve ever tasted,” she said.

The 16-seat café will also offer coffee, juices and smoothies. Beer and eventually wine will be available for sale.

The space has been completely renovated after sustaining severe damage during superstorm Sandy.

“We had to redo everything. Soup to nuts it’s all brand new,” Sepenoski said.

Adding the market is just one of several changes for the farm this season. Sepenoski said she is trying to increase a focus on agri-education and will offer tours this summer.

The farm will host tours on the weekends of June 24-25, July 1-2 and July 8-9. Parking there will be $25 per carload and visitors get access to the tour and restrooms, as well as $5 off of a farmstand purchase. Those dates are timed to coincide with the bloom at nearby Lavender by the Bay.

Look for more intensive, guided tours of the field later this season.
