Ever since it first opened several years back, the staff at the Riverhead News-Review has always had an affinity for it.

In the days after the Turkish eatery opened, staff photographer Barbaraellen Koch left a menu on just about everyone’s desk. Police reporter Paul Squire doesn’t like to eat anywhere else.

It is a restaurant you might not have tried in a riverfront location you might have overlooked, if not for the great word of mouth.

The New York Times, perhaps the ultimate place to check for Long Island restaurant reviews, did a stellar job capturing the essence of this restaurant in a favorable review published online Saturday.

Is it the greatest restaurant with the most spectacular views you’ve ever seen? No. But it’s pretty darn good, and the views ain’t bad either.

It’s also a unique dining experience on the North Fork. Give it a try.
