OK, I’ll admit it: I’m not an adventurous eater. Growing up, dinners at my Rochester household consisted largely of boring but blissfully predictable meals, like roasted chicken and mashed potatoes — and, darn it, I liked it that way.
“Do you carry gluten-free products?” It’s a question more and more food establishments are hearing these days. Restaurants and health food stores across the North Fork say gluten-free foods are in high demand. And while most people know gluten-free eaters have to skip creamy pasta dishes and fluffy white bread, most don’t know just how tough it can be to follow a gluten-free diet. (more…)
“Wind Against Tide = Chaos on the Horizon,” featuring work by abstract expressionists Barbara Bilotta and Wendy Small, will be shown Sept. 7 to Nov. 11 at Greenport Harbor Brewing Company. The exhibit opens with a reception from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The show will extend to The Square in Greenport, with artwork on view at Main restaurant and Meet tasting room. (more…)
MEET is now open in Greenport’s historic Stirling Square, joining its siblings MAIN, NOSH and PREP to complete Chef Keith Luce’s The Square.
MEET offers wine and beer tastings and a storeroom where guests can sample New York-produced beer, wine and spirits as well as participate in cooking and food/beverage pairing classes. (more…)
