On a beautiful, sunny day in Greenport, another huge crowd turned out for the East End Seaport Museum & Maritime Foundation’s 28th annual Maritime Festival.

The East End Emerald Society held its third annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Jamesport Saturday afternoon.
The weather was brisk and clear as hundreds of people enjoyed watching bagpipers, first responders and many other groups parade down Main Road led by Grand Marshal Sean McCabe. (more…)
It was more than your average Halloween in downtown Riverhead yesterday, as the Edgar Allan Poe Festival kicked off on Main Street.
The three-day festival — which kicked off again at 11 a.m. today at the Long Island Aquarium — brought trick-or-treaters downtown starting in the late afternoon, followed by an Edgar Allan Poe Parade down Main Street. (more…)
The East End Seaport Museum & Marine Foundation welcomes seafarers and landlubbers alike to the 24th Annual Maritime Festival in Greenport from Friday Sept. 20 through Sunday Sept. 22. This year the theme is “Land & Sea” and the festival will be focusing on everything wonderful and unique that the North Fork and our historic maritime village has to offer. Food truck favorites are coming to the North Fork in the form of a new Southold café – and you can get your first taste of the delicious offerings this Memorial Day. The owners of Wednesday’s Table, a breakfast and lunch eatery debuting in June, will offer samples of the eatery’s Asian and Mediterranean infused menu outside their Route 25 storefront (in the former location of the Piping Plover Café) during Monday’s parade.
If you want an authentic small town experience for this weekend, come to Shelter Island’s Memorial Day parade. The official opening of the summer season, the parade starts in the center of town at the firehouse, works its way down Route 114 past the library, American Legion Mitchell Post 281, the school and down side streets where Islanders come out of their houses to watch the parade pass by.
