The enticing aroma of food filling the air as I walked into the bustling North Road Deli brought me back. The deli, fittingly located on Route 48 in Southold, was the go-to place for Southold High School students to grab a freshly made sandwich on their lunch break.

Before graduating nearly 10 years ago, I probably ate there three to four times a week — in my defense, their homemade Russian dressing is addictingly delicious. So, when I visited the North Road Deli for ‘What’s for Lunch’ — my first visit since high school — I had high expectations.

And as I’d hoped, it didn’t disappoint. (more…)

If you’re struggling to find a place to eat lunch on any given Wednesday on the North Fork, a new café named Wednesday’s Table might sound like a pretty good option.

But unlike most local breakfast-and-lunch spots — which are closed Monday or Tuesday, if at all — you won’t find Wednesday’s Table open on the day of the week it’s named for. (more…)

Sure you can work all day in the kitchen on Thanksgiving preparing that turkey dinner and all the accompaniments, but not everyone has the time or desire to do all the work.
