On July 9, 2023, 2:00 pm- Mark MacNish, Executive Director of the CNSHC, will be giving a talk entitled “The Orphan Trains, A Local Family’s Tale.” He will be talking about his family’s experience with the Orphan Trains, an experimental social welfare project that operated between 1854 and 1929. The talk is a culmination of years of historical research resulting in his family’s story, which ended in both happiness and tragedy. The talk will be held in the New Egypt School house at the Mattituck Laurel Historcial Society at the corner of Cardinal Drive and the Main Road in Mattituck. For more information call 631-379-7494.
