Sirens’ Song Gallery, Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program and the East End Seaport Museum take pleasure in presenting The Merry Merfolk Parade. The main goal of the event is to raise awareness of the shellfish and habitat restoration work of CCE Marine Program’s Back to the Bays Initiative. Come show your support of our local waters dressed as your favorite sea creature, mermaid, or pirate!
Merry Merfolk will be an event within an event during Greenport Maritime Festival on Saturday, September 24th. The parade is open to all (although attendance is limited to 60 participants) and will be both fun and whimsical, while helping draw attention to the importance of our marine ecosystem.
The parade will wind through the Village of Greenport and there will be an award ceremony immediately following the Parade. There will be awards for the best costume in each category! Details on line up location and costume contest will be sent to registrants in advance of parade day.
