About

Our exciting Live Music/Silent Film series gets rolling again at the Jamesport Meeting House this June. The ACME Quartet will accompany classic and contemporary cinema in an historic atmosphere at the 1731 Meeting House. The first program, Pioneering Women Directors 2.0 will screen on Friday June 14 at 7:30pm. It will feature several works by French director, Alice Guy Blaché.

Blaché was the first female film director at the dawn of cinema in the late nineteenth century. From 1896 to 1906, she was probably the only female filmmaker in the world. Narrative filmmaking started with Blaché. She was artistic director and a co-founder of Solax Studios in Flushing, NY. Her work laid the foundation for all who make films today.
