Join art teacher, Darlene Siracusano, in learning about the importance of quilting to the African American Culture. Explore the world of Tar Beach, written by artist and author Faith Ringgold, and how she uses quilting to tell stories.
First, students will listen to the book Tar Beach and will then create their own collage quilts using a self-photo, colorful material, and colored pencils to tell their own story!
