Hoops 4 Hope has announced they will host the Inaugural H4H East End 3’s 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, August 20 at East Hampton High School. The tournament will begin at approximately 8 a.m. and each team must have a minimum of three players and a maximum of five. There will be a men’s and women’s division, and a bracket for kids aged 13 – 17 and a separate bracket for adults (18 ). A grand prize will be awarded to the winning team in each bracket and will include four tickets to a New York Knicks game, dinner at a Hamptons restaurant and more.

The tournament will be hosted by Hoops 4 Hope, a non-profit organization since 1995, has been working in underserved communities in Cape Town, South Africa, Harare, Zimbabwe and with local schools and programs to enhance community engagement. It will be played on the court that is dedicated to NYS HOF Basketball Coach, Ed Petrie. Coach Petrie has won the most public high school basketball games in New York State history (totally 754 wins) and was the head coach of the 1977 and 1989 East Hampton Basketball Teams, which won the New York State title those years. The fee per team is $300 and guests will be able to enjoy food, live music, a silent auction and so much more. Cost to attend as a spectator is free, although donations are welcome and all proceeds will benefit Hoops 4 Hope. To register a team, please visit https://www.hoops4hope.org/east-end-3s.

“We’re so excited to host the first ever East End 3’s 3-on-3 tournament for Hoops 4 Hope! A lot of people think we’re only about basketball, but we’re so much more than that. Hoops 4 Hope provides young people in South Africa, Zimbabwe and locally with the fundamentals and opportunities necessary to be happy, health and safe not only physically, but also emotionally. The goal of this event is to bring awareness to the organization, have fun, play basketball, but most importantly, help kids while doing so.” – Anthony Allison, Executive Director.
