Event Details
“Strictly Murder” by Brian Clemens is set in 1939 in Provence, France, where an English couple, Peter and Suzy, are living in idyllic isolation, far from the rumblings of the coming world war. Their peace is shattered when Suzy discovers she’s been betrayed: Peter is not the man he claims to be, and in fact may be a ruthless killer on the run. When a Scotland Yard detective named Ross arrives, events become even more complicated and frightening. Lies, subterfuge and murder make this fast-paced thriller a dark and disturbing roller coaster of bluff … and double bluff.
Performances of “Strictly Murder” will run from March 7 through March 24 on Thursdays and Fridays at 7, Saturdays at 8, and Sundays at 2:30. An additional matinee performance will be offered on Saturday, March 23, at 2:30.
Two talkbacks with the cast will be offered to ticketholders immediately following the March 15 and March 22 Friday-evening performances.

G.E. Smith and The American Blues series is back, and this time with special guest Larry McCray! Get ready for the soul-stirring rhythms of blues legend G.E. Smith and Larry McCray when they join forces for one night only!
G.E. Smith is one of the most in-demand blues guitarists and musicologists in the world. He may be best recognized as the Emmy-award winning bandleader for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, but he has also done extensive touring playing in the bands of Bob Dylan, Roger Waters and recording with artists such as Mick Jagger, Tom Waits and many more. His first big break however came in 1979 when he teamed up with Daryl Hall and John Oates. Needless to say, G.E. Smith is a true savant of his craft.
Known for his soulful, barrel-chested vocals, Larry McCray has played and shared the stage with such greats as BB King, Buddy Guy, Albert King, John Mayall, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Keb Mo, Jonny Lang, Joe Walsh, Levon Helm, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Albert Collins, and Joe Bonamassa as well as toured with The Allman Brothers Band, Warren Haynes, Gov’t Mule, Phil Lesh, Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, and countless others. “Larry’s still a relatively young man, with a lot to say, and the world needs to know who he is. It’s the perfect time to have a rebirth of his music. He knows he’s a badass, he just needs to be reassured and reassure himself that he can stand up there with the greats.” – Famed Blues Rock Guitarist Joe Bonamassa

Author Foster Hirsch Joins Front Row with his book “Hollywood and the Movies of the Fifties”
It was a time of the atomic bomb, blacklisted talent, Cinerama and the birth of television. And Hollywood was not ready for all its close-ups. In his new book, Brooklyn College Film History teacher Foster Hirsch ‘plots’ the fall of the studio system, the Cold War, and the boom of post World War II. Many of the movies reflected seismic shifts in the Left Coast. But no one could have foreseen the revolution that was coming. Often in something called VistaVision. For lovers of movies and because Canoe Place has often hosted some of Hollywood’s biggest names, this is a night not to be missed.
A book signing will follow the presentation.

Tickets are $36, $31 for seniors, and $20 for students 25 and under, and are available at the Hampton Theatre Company

The Upstairs Gallery is pleased to present the works of Sherry Davis and Cathleen Ficht. Sherry Davis is exhibiting a site-specific installation that blends recycled and modified textiles, industrial materials, and natural objects. Cathleen Ficht’s works on paper are based on her finely detailed drawings of waves and water; depicting images that hover between representation and abstraction. The exhibition runs daily from 8 March through the end of May. Entry is free and the exhibition is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
