Summer marks the season to get out and catch some live music on Long Island.

Here on the North Fork, Dances in the Park is tops for live music. The weekly Monday night concert series has become almost synonymous with summertime in Greenport for its rocking bands and stunning waterfront backdrop.

Hidden away in East Moriches is a tiny fishing station that has stood the test of time. Since taking the helm nearly four years ago, Silly Lily Fishing Station owner Jay Scott has breathed new life into the business while keeping its character — and history — in tact.

It’s one of the last of its kind; a place where visitors can rent paddle boards, kayaks, sailboats, motorized skiffs — and, of course, bait and tackle to take out fishing on Moriches Bay or perhaps to the sandy Cupsogue Beach for the day. (more…)
