Hulling Night, a strawberry shortcake eating contest and the crowning of the Strawberry Queen only means one thing: the Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival is returning to Mattituck. Now in it’s 65th  year, the annual Father’s Day weekend festival kicks off Thursday with Hulling Night followed by three days of fun focused on its namesake summertime berry. (more…)

For the second straight year, the September issue of northforker was awarded Best Magazine in the New York Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.

The special “Working Waterfront” issue paid tribute to the North Fork and Shelter Island fishermen, boat captains and others who rise early each morning to make their living on The Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay. (more…)

It may have been a mild winter, but that no way dulls the anticipation of spring. The warmer weather is returning and so are North Fork businesses. Here are a handful of signs that spring has arrived with the planned opening of some of your favorite places.
