Last month, Love Lane Kitchen owner Carolyn Iannone hit a snag: She received ground lamb instead of the lamb chops she’d ordered to make that night’s special.

That could have punched a hole right through her plans since, unfortunately, ground lamb doesn’t exactly work for lamb chops with spicy grilled eggplant. But instead, Iannone walked approximately 30 seconds to the adjacent Lombardi’s Love Lane Market, where she struck a deal. (more…)

For Mattituck’s Paige Romanowski, there’s a special sort of satisfaction in her work as a personal trainer.

Ever craved an O’Mally’s burger on your lunch break only to be disappointed by the Southold restaurant’s dinner-only hours during the week? Fret not: your concerns have been heard.

On Monday, the restaurant began serving lunch seven days a week, not just on weekends as it had previously. Owner Jimmy Kokotas said the decision was a “win-win.”

“Instead of closing like some places will start to do in the next couple of months, we figured we’d extend the hours to give the staff we have some more hours instead of giving them fewer hours or forced time off,” he said. “We’ll do a little bit of business, and at the same time, we’ll be able to keep people working.” (more…)

Brian Curtin wanted Pure North Fork, the new restaurant he manages at Wading River’s Great Rock Golf Club, to stand apart from its predecessor.

The golf course’s former restaurant, Blackwells, was a more traditional steakhouse featuring mahogany tables and high prices. So when that closed in January 2014 and new ownership took over, Curtin, who manages the golf course and also managed Blackwells, saw an opportunity.

In its place is a “craft bistro” emphasizing local ingredients and a casual atmosphere. And, speaking of prices, when Pure North Fork opened to the public Monday, the only menu items costing more than $30 were prime steaks. (more…)
