On Saturday mornings during the winter, North Fork Flour Shoppe Owner Meghan Saccone parks her light-pink, retro dessert truck — and signature matching pink bicycle — outside the East End Food Market in Riverhead. There, she serves lines of hungry customers who queue up each week for a taste of her rotating assortment of sweet treats.

The local pastry chef has been in the baking industry since 2008, but it wasn’t until 2020 that Saccone launched her own business. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she began baking out of her Jamesport home, supplying small-batch baked goods to restaurants across the East End and selling bespoke, custom-made buttercream cakes for customers through social media.

Today, her desserts can be found at Meats Meat BBQ Shop in Mattituck as well as at pop-up locations that are listed on her Instagram, @nofoflourshoppe. Given that her storefront is on wheels, Saccone is also available for private events and parties.

In honor of Valentine’s Day weekend, Saccone will be selling love-inspired sweets — including heart-shaped crème brûlée and pink, chocolate covered rainbow cookies — at the East End Food Market, 139 Main Road in Riverhead, on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Spend a minute with us inside the North Fork Flour Shoppe dessert truck for a sneak peek of the lovely treats that you might find at next weekend’s market.
