New Suffolk is hard not to fall in love with. The sleepy hamlet that’s tucked away from any main attractions, is undeniably special with sandy Peconic Bay beaches, marinas, a quaint walkable downtown, an oyster farm, waterfront dining, and a community garden. Homes that hit the real estate market here don’t last long, and we know this week’s Dream Home certainly won’t.

The home itself is equally as charming as the hamlet it’s in with original late 18th century details and dressed in cedar shingles with perfect patina.

“I just love the cedar shingle siding and cedar shingle roof,” said listing agent Diane Mollica of Compass. “It is not common to see a cedar shingle roof as it is an added cost, however, it adds so much character and a layer of richness to the home. It’s natural and aged and completely suits the environment – the sea, the marina, the beach, it all ties together.”

The two-story Victorian farmhouse dates back to the late 1800s and features three bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, an office, and a staircase that leads to an A-frame attic space with stunning arched windows ready to be finished.

On the first floor, there is a large kitchen with a pantry and a dining nook, an oversized, bright living room with a bay window with original decorative moldings, and off that, a lovely, enclosed porch, a dining room with sliding glass doors leading to the backyard, and a main floor bedroom with a fireplace.

Upstairs, you’ll find two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and the walk-up attic.

“The home is old and full of character and charm like the original 8″ pine flooring throughout the second floor,” Mollica told us. “The rooms are big, the layout is comfortable, and the home is in good condition.”

There is also a bonus space that makes this property extra dreamy. A detached garage-converted studio with an all-white interior, large floorboards, and a ladder to a loft space. The open space is inspiring and peaceful and adds to the charm of the property.

“The canvas is there,” said Mollica. “The home is inviting and immediately sparks curiosity about the past and what your future could be living inside.”

It is listed at $1,200,000.
