‘Tis the season for hot chocolate and with one sip, these local, festive — and sometimes boozy — cups of hot cocoa will have you feeling jolly. Here are four cheery, holiday-themed hot chocolates to warm you up this winter.

Spiked Hot Chocolate Flight at Montauk Distilling Co. in Riverhead

Your heart will grow three times its size after drinking this spiked, grinch-themed hot chocolate flight. Made with Bellamy Spiced Rum, the cocoa board features four unique flavors: “4:00 Wallow in Self Pity: Peppermint Hot Chocolate”, “4:30 Stare into the Abyss: Gingerbread Hot Cocoa”, “5:00 Solve World Hunger…Tell No One: Sugar Cookie Hot Chocolate,” and “5:30 JAZZERCIZE: Caramel Hot Cocoa.” Order it “whovillize” style for the kids.

Check out Montauk Distilling Co. at 24 E 2nd St. in Riverhead.

“Insane Hot Chocolate” at LuchaCubano in Riverhead

The magic of these festive drinks lies in the toppings. Each hot chocolate is rimmed with Nutella and topped with a mountain of sugary delights. Choose between a graham cracker flavor with a giant s’more, a peanut butter flavor with peanut butter cups and a marshmallow snowman, and a peppermint hot chocolate decked out in crushed peppermint and candy canes. Each hot chocolate is $7, or make it boozy for $12.

Loaded Hot Chocolate at The Treatery in Jamesport

The Treatery’s loaded hot chocolate comes with your choice of a variety of toppings, including M&M’s, KitKats, sprinkles, and chocolate sauce.

Jamesport’s newest bakeshop offers a choose-your-own-adventure with a loaded hot chocolate bar. This creamy and deliciously thick chocolate beverage is made even better with toppings like M&M’s, sprinkles, torched marshmallows, and chocolate sauce. While you’re there, treat yourself to one of their delicious chocolate chip cookies — you’ll thank us later.

Hot Chocolate Bombs at Disset Chocolate in Cutchogue

These hot chocolate bombs, made from artisanal chocolate, make a great stocking stuffer or gift. Pour hot milk over one of these chocolate spheres and watch as the cocoa magically appears inside your cup. This gift box includes three dark chocolate bombs, three white bombs, and one spoon for $45.
