When we think of the North Fork harvest, grapes often come to mind first. Of course, there’s also the produce that comes into season each month of the year.
But October is a great time for local oysters and a celebration of the bounty of our bays.
We loved David Benthal’s richly textured photograph of oysters on this month’s cover and it’s a great teaser for two pieces in this issue: a profile of a WNBA player turned oyster farmer Sue Wicks and a piece on Cornell’s SPAT program.
