September 22 marks the first official day of fall — and restaurants, coffee shops and breweries around the North Fork have already begun concocting some festive beverages to celebrate the new season.
Here are five fall drinks to add to your bucket list:
1. Ancho Reyes Mexican Hot Chocolate — Funchos
This Mexican hot chocolate is spiked with Ancho Chile liqueur, topped with toasted marshmallow and a dulce de leche churro. Warm and spicy, this seasonal beverage was designed with sweater-weather in mind.
2. Whiskey Barrel Aged Sugar Skull Pumpkin Ale — Jamesport Farm Brewery
Made from their seasonal sugar skull pumpkin ale, this beverage is a 5th edition, extra limited brew at Jamesport Farm Brewery. Aged in Rough Rider barrels from Long Island Spirits, this smokey beverage is sure to warm you up and is exclusively served out of a collectible glass.
3. Leaf Pile Ale — Greenport Harbor Brewing Co.
A local favorite, this copper-colored ale captures the “essence of the harvest season” with warm malts and fall spices. Enjoy at one of Greenport Harbor Brewing’s two tasting rooms or to-go with a 6-pack.
Greenport Harbor Brewing Company has two locations: 234 Carpenter Street in Greenport and 42155 Main Road in Peconic. Call (631) 477-1100 or visit greenportharborbrewing.com.
4. Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini — Montauk Distilling Co.
Every fall, Montauk Distilling Co. crafts a variety of seasonal cocktails. This year, they’ve created a pumpkin spice espresso martini — a classy twist on the beloved pumpkin spice latte — served in a glass drizzled with chocolate syrup.
5. Caramel Crisp Apple Latte — North Fork Roasting Company
Those looking to venture beyond pumpkin flavored drinks this fall should try North Fork Roasting Company’s caramel crisp apple latte. The secret to this festive drink is its homemade simple syrup. Steeped apple crisp tea with warm spices and apple puree are mixed together and boiled down to create a syrup that encapsulates the flavors of fall.
