Fall is finally here, and it’s the season of change in more ways than one.

Chefs around the North Fork have been switching up their menus, making the most of local harvests and incorporating seasonal ingredients into new offerings.

Here are some dishes that you can look forward to tasting this fall:

1. Autumn Salad at Main Road Biscuit Co.

This soon-to-be-released autumn salad consists of roasted butternut squash, candied walnuts, chevre cheese, dried cranberries, and maple dijon vinaigrette. This seasonal dish, along with several others, are expected to be added to the menu this weekend.

4. Autumn Sunshine Bowl at Barrow Food House

A healthy and gluten free friendly option for this fall: roasted beets, butternut squash, quinoa, tuscan kale, pepitas, and ricotta salata topped with citrus vinaigrette.

5. Orient Organics Autumn Squash Risotto at Noah’s

Every year, the chefs at Noah’s spend a day experimenting with fall ingredients to put together an autumn menu. Returning from last year is the Orient Organics Autumn Squash Risotto — a warm and cozy dish made with goat cheese, crispy sage, toasted pumpkin seeds, and Saba vinegar. Several local products in this dish are specially made for Noah’s, like the produce from Orient Organics and the goat cheese from Catapano Dairy Farm.

6. Long Island Crescent Farm’s Duck at American Beech

Locally raised duck paired is with confit pave, Agrodolce Baby Beets, brown buttered Maitake mushrooms, and parsnip purée in this fall dish.

7. Grilled Salmon from Southold Social

Southold Social’s autumn menu is ready to be enjoyed, including this grilled salmon, served with butternut squash purèe, farm apple cider reduction, sautèed kale, hen-of-the-woods mushrooms, and fried kale.

8. Grilled Shrimp from The Dimon Estate

A hearty dish paired with charred corn polenta, roasted red pepper sauce, and tomato salad, topped with honey balsamic dressing. Be sure to try this one soon, as it will only be served until the third week of October.
