Food trucks are undoubtedly a good time. Typically parked at a location offering a touch more — live music, killer views, craft drinks, and cool vibes — these moveable restaurants offer up an excellent way to sample local food in a fuss-free way.

And when we say “sample” we truly mean it by often ordering the entire menu. (That’s how you’re supposed to do it, right?) If you haven’t tried some of these local food trucks, we present to you a food truck itinerary: a spot to try for every day of the week, but hurry, some don’t keep post-Labor Day.

MONDAY
The Catered Fork at Jamesport Farm Brewery

The Catered Fork food truck is our Monday pick. We love the wide range of food you can order from it. From the shrimp and chorizo quesadilla to the sliced steak hoagie, there’s something for everyone. Don’t forget to order the truffle parm fries and wash it all down with a beer or cider from the brewery. So many good options here. The food truck is open daily from 12 to 5 p.m.

TUESDAY
Meats Meats BBQ at Townsend Manor Inn

Head to Greenport for Townsend Manor Inn’s Townsend Tuesdays before the season comes to a close.
There, you’ll nosh on BBQ and comfort food by Meats Meats, listen to live music by various North Fork artists and sip your beverage of choice from the snack bar. Although their menu changes, you can expect choices like pulled pork, sliced brisket, pulled chicken, bacon and jalapeño mac and cheese, and more. Townsend Tuesday happens every Tuesday until Labor Day from 6 to 9 p.m.

WEDNESDAY
Shuck Truck Happy Hour at The Shoals

Every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., Little Ram Oyster’s Shuck Truck opens at The Shoals for a happy hour that’s equal parts delicious and laid back. Come as you are and snag a dockside picnic table then order oysters, caviar, peel-n-eat shrimp, clams, clam dip by Clamity Janes, chips and more. Local beer and wine are also available for purchase. The Shuck Truck will be open through October but don’t wait until then to go because you’ll be sad you didn’t get in as many Wednesdays there as possible.

THURSDAY
Twilight Thursdays at Corey Creek Tap Room with various food trucks

With two Twilight Thursdays to go until Labor Day, you’ll want to get there before the season comes to an end. From 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays through the summer, Corey Creek Tap Room hosts a night of live music and food trucks to help get you through the final push of the week. On Thursday, Aug. 25, listen to the tunes of Barely Acoustic and enjoy food by Nice Buns Food Truck offering gourmet sliders like lobster, ahi tuna, Italian chicken, and more. On Thursday, Sept. 1, the final night of Twilight Thursdays, local musician Julia King will be playing live and Brockenzo Food Truck will be serving wood-fired pizza.

FRIDAY
Burger Night at McCall Wines

Hosted at the vineyard itself, this dining experience should be on your radar. In addition to making some of the North Fork’s best wine, the McCall family also raises Charolais cows for beef and it’s been said that their burgers are some of the tastiest on the Fork. Burger Night is offered Thursday and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. but reservations are required to dine.

SATURDAY
North Fork Table & Inn Food Truck

Open Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. the North Fork Table & Inn Food Truck at the gardens at North Fork Table & Inn is serving some serious eats. The menu is substantial and includes salads, burgers, sandwiches, snacks and sides plus a children’s menu, too. The smoke heritage pork sandwich with bourbon mustard BBQ and pickled cabbage is a favorite, though our top pick is the lobster roll made with confit fennel, celery salt, and chives. But no matter what you order, you can’t go wrong.

SUNDAY
The Preston House Food Truck

The Preston House Food Truck located at The Preston House property in downtown Riverhead is one way to get an elevated lunch in a super casual setting. The menu is larger than a typical food truck menu which makes choosing tough but that just means you’ll have to be a repeat offender — we don’t judge! From the apps menu, the octopus salad with grilled roasted peppers, crispy potato, lemon, and herbs is amazing, as are their rice bowls. Visit their site for the full menu. The Preston House Food Truck is open Thursday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
