With one day to go in northforker’s Best of the North Fork readers’ choice contest, a handful of races remain too close to call.

The final day of voting — polls close at noon Wednesday — will ultimately determine our readers’ collective favorites in at least eight of the categories.

While we have deemed all the staff selections our readers are voting on winners in each category, there’s still time to earn ultimate bragging rights by being the choice of the people.

A pair of categories — Best Local Band and Best Vintage Store — saw the top two vote-getters separated by just six votes with 24 hours to go as the band Points East and vintage shop In the Attic Too have a chance to unseat last year’s reader picks in those categories: Gene Casey & the Lone Sharks and The Times Vintage.

It’s a three-shop race in two other categories as our readers collectively found themselves truly torn voting for the Best Farm Stand and Best Nursery or Garden Center on the North Fork. In the farm stand category, last year’s reader pick Sang Lee Farms is barely hanging on ahead of Bayview Farm and Market and Country View Farm Stand. As for nurseries, Trimble’s of Corchaug, Peconic River Herb Farm and Gabrielsen’s Country Farm all have a chance to be our readers’ choice for 2022.

Barrow Food House in Aquebogue is locked in two battles for Best Takeout Spot and Best Burger. Little Lucharitos (takeout) and First & South (burger) have emerged as the other contenders in those categories.

Two other races that remain too close to call are Best Coffee Shop (Aldo’s vs. North Fork Roasting Co.) and Best Italian Food (Il Giardino vs. Touch of Venice).

Be sure to vote in all the categories and spread the word to friends, family and customers that polls close at noon Wednesday. We will announce the winners at 7 p.m.
