For the weekend warriors, there are endless ways to spend the 60 hours between 6 p.m. Friday evening and 6 a.m. Monday morning on the North Fork.
But weeknights — quieter, slower in pace, less crowded — still offer plenty to do.
Here are some weeknight happenings across the North Fork this summer for food and fun:
MONDAY
Dances in the Park in Greenport
Head to Mitchell Park for this popular village concert series, which will once again present a different musical act each Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The free event kicks off on July 4 with The Remedy and runs through Aug. 29.
Remember to bring a blanket and some chairs, and get there early to get a spot on the lawn.
Burger Night at The Dimon Estate
Start your week off at this newly renovated Manor Lane restaurant with a burger and beer. For lunch and dinner, you can pair any of their three burgers with an ice cold beer for $19.99.
Choose from either the Dimon burger (ciabatta, onion jam, bacon, Boursin cheese, arugula, tomato), Asian burger (ciabatta, kimchi cabbage slaw, sriracha mayo, wasabi, arugula) or Black Sheep pretzel burger (bagel pretzel bun, lettuce, tomato, Boursin cheese) and pair with a seasonal craft beer.
TUESDAY
Sushi night at an Italian place
We know, we know. Maroni Southold may not be the first place that comes to mind for sushi. The special menu is only available on Tuesdays and worth the hype. It includes classics like a California roll, spice tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll and also a colorful rainbow roll, dragon roll and kani salad.
You can enjoy it to go or stay, but you must pre order in advance.
WEDNESDAY
Shuck Truck at the Shoals in Southold
Every Wednesday throughout the summer, Little Ram Oyster Company takes over the food truck at The Shoals, turning it into a ‘Shuck Truck,’ a delectable oyster happy hour.
There’s nothing better than cold beer and cocktail specials, briny oysters for $2.50 apiece and live music while you take in views of Peconic Bay.
Great Lawn BBQs at Windamere in Mattituck
Starting July 6, you can enjoy a picturesque barbecue on the Great Lawn at Windamere at Strong’s Water Club in Mattituck every Wednesday night.
The casual event will feature a creative BBQ buffet with a menu of steamed clams, honey lemon grilled chicken, jerk shrimp skewers, pulled pork and of course, burgers.
Summer sides like roasted corn, potato salad and slaw are also included and desserts — and beer — will also be served.
Reservations are encouraged and tickets are $55 for adults and $25 for kids under 10.
Dates: July 6, 13, 20, 27 and Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling 631-315-5252 or at windamerenofo.com/wednesday-night-bbq.
THURSDAY
Weekly trivia
Put on your thinking caps and participate in trivia night at Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. in Peconic. Executive chef Greg Ling offers weekly food specials and the winner receives a $25 gift certificate. Trivia starts at 6 p.m.
Learn something new
Not up for trivia? Head to übergeek Brewing Company in Riverhead for a Geek Talk hosted by marine scientist Chris Paparo of @fishguyphotos every other Thursday. Enjoy craft beer and a different food truck while listening to an interesting lecture about topics that have ranged from local ecology and identifying sharks to a recent talk about the mysteries of the Montauk Project, which is said to have inspired the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.”
The next talk is scheduled for June 30 at 7 p.m. More details and future topics can be found at ubergeekbrewing.com/events.
Summer Soirees
Brick Cove Marina will kick off their Swell Season Series on Thursday, July 14 at 4 p.m. with live music, yard games, food trucks, cold beer, ice cream, face painting, a nature inspired craft table and other themed activities for the entire family.
