Splish Splash water park in Calverton has breathed new life into a classic attraction ahead of the 2022 season.
The enclosed water slide known as the ‘Abyss’ has been reimagined and will be reintroduced this summer as the Hyperlight.
According to park officials, riders can choose between two dueling slides that offer up to four different light and sound experiences. After boarding your tube, you’ll fly through an all-sensory display of vivid light and dynamic sound that a spokesperson said “will make thrill-seekers feel like they have been transported to another dimension.”
“We have transformed a Splish Splash classic into an all-new sensory experience,” general manager Mike Bengtson said. “Hyperlight is an attraction like nothing else at the park, guests will experience lights, sounds and thrills as they race all the way down.”
Bengtson said the park is currently gearing up for a “huge” 2022 season that’s set to open Saturday, May 28 during Memorial Day weekend. It will begin operating 7-days a week on June 25, according to the park’s website.
The 96-acre water park celebrated its 30th season in 2021 after the pandemic kept the park closed in 2020. It features 20 water slides and attractions, two wave pools, kiddie areas and a lazy river. The park also has a boardwalk with dining options and you can relax in style by renting one of several private, shaded cabanas for the day.
In honor of the Hyperlight announcement, the park is currently running a special on silver season passes (ordinarily $99) for the price of a $79 bronze pass, through Sunday, March 27.
