Even as the new year brings with it bouts of snow and frigid winter air, there are still farms and other businesses on the North Fork delivering fresh local produce through community supported agriculture programs.
And those programs aren’t limited to just fruits and vegetables.
Some CSAs deliver bread, cheese, eggs and more in various combinations.
Here are five winter CSAs (including aquaculture and bread, because why not?) worth checking out before it’s too late.
Jamesport Sourdough And Coffee Co.

Jamesport Sourdough offers a four-week sign-up with Saturday pick-up days on Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12 and Feb 19. The pick-up location is their front porch between the hours of 10 a.m and 2 p.m.
They offer either a classic sourdough or chocolate sourdough bread subscription. The classic sourdough is $56 a share and the chocolate sourdough is $72 a share (one bread is one share).

Garden of Eve offers four different options for winter CSA shares all with three distribution periods from Dec. to April.
The first option is a “winter share with eggs” available at $55 per bag for a total of $165. This share includes a range of produce which varies depending on the distribution. Each share also comes with a dozen eggs.
The second option is a “winter share with no eggs” available at $55 per bag for a total of $165. (This is the same as the “winter share with eggs,” except without the dozen eggs.).
The third option is a “winter share with groceries and eggs” available at $55 per bag for a total of $165. This share includes “Garden of Eve” vegetables in smaller quantities than the other shares, plus $15 of “locavore” products that change depending on the month.
The fourth option is simply “eggs” at $7.15 per dozen for a total of $21.45.
Pick-up locations include the Riverhead farm, various western Long Island areas and multiple New York City neighborhoods with the first distribution on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m..

KK’s The Farm does its CSA differently from the traditional ones offered around the North Fork.
Instead of buying total shares for weekly or monthly pickups, farmer Ira Haspel sends out a weekly email detailing the produce harvested that week and clients are able to respond with what exact items they wish to purchase for their next desired pick-up.
There are no upfront fees since weekly purchases could vary, allowing customers to pay upon arrival.

If you’re looking for eggs – possibly in bulk – then Browder’s Birds is the CSA share for you.
For two dozen eggs every other week, you can buy a share of 20 dozen eggs from December through March for a total of $200.
Pickup dates are the Saturdays of Dec. 4 and 18, Jan. 1, 15 and 29, Feb. 12 and 26, March 12 and 26 and April 9. The locations include the Browder’s Birds farm stand or East End Food Farmers Market at 139 Main Road in Riverhead.

“Little Ram” is providing its first ever New York Oyster-of-the-Month Club. Each month you will receive 25 oysters from Little Ram and 25 oysters from a featured farm delivered straight to your door.
In your first shipment you will get a Little Ram Shuck Kit which includes a shucking knife, a shucking block, a pair of shucking gloves and an oyster tray.
With each new shipment you will learn about the monthly featured farm including their farmers, farming techniques and tasting profiles.
Subscription boxes can be bought in three, six and nine-month subscriptions and are shipped overnight on the third Thursday of each month through FedEx. (Make sure to check if you fall within their 300-mile shipping radius.).
Order cut off for each month is the 10th, after then you will receive your subscription the following month.
